Why Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel Grating is More Expensive than the Electro Galvanized Type

According to different manufacturing processes, there are mainly two galvanized gratings, namely hot dipped galvanized steel grating and electro galvanized grating. These two steel gratings differ a lot in price which is mainly resulted from the galvanizing technology, the zinc thickness and the serving life.
Hot-dip galvanized steel bar gratings have excellent anti-corrosive capability thus has a longer serving life than the electro galvanized type. Its galvanizing technology is also more complicated. Put the steel grating that has been cleaned into the sink filled with zinc solution, connect the steel grating which is the negative pole and the solution which is the positive pole with the two poles of the direct-current power supply respectively. When the power is on, the metal ions in the zinc solution would move to the negative pole to form the zinc coating under the effect of potential difference. Meanwhile the metal in the solution would release metal ions to supply those that has been coated on the surface of the steel grating. The quality of the zinc coating would be effected with many factors such as the composition of the zinc solution, the temperature, the voltage, the stirring strength and so on which should all be controlled within a certain range.
The cost of electro galvanized steel bar gratings are relatively lower. The technology of electro galvanizing is forming an even, compact and adhesive metal or alloy coating on the surface of the product with electrolysis. The lifetime of this steel grating is shorter than the hot-dip galvanized grating but accordingly, it has the advantage of lower price. Clients should choose the proper steel grating according to the application, the working environment, etc.
In conclusion, the differences of electro galvanized steel bar grates and hot dipped galvanized steel bar grates include:
* Different zinc thickness. The former has a thinner zinc coating while that of the latter is much thicker.
* Different appearance. The appearance of the former is much flatter and brighter and that of the latter is rough and dim.
* Different applications. Hot dipped galvanized steel bar gratings, with their excellent anti-corrosive capability, is particularly suited for conditions that require additional corrosion resistance like the outside.
